Vehicle charging stations planned for Lincolnshire library

Pending village approval, two electric vehicle charging stations for public use will be installed at the Vernon Area Library, 300 Olde Half Day Road in Lincolnshire.

The library board Monday approved electrical system upgrades and the purchase of two Enel X "JuiceBox 32" Level 2 charging stations at an estimated cost of $17,532.

Library officials said the stations will contribute to sustainability efforts, provide access for residents who don't have a charger and attract new patrons. A per-hour user fee is expected to cover expenses within five years.

The plans will be submitted for village approval this month, with the stations expected to be installed in winter.
