Villa Park accepts $4 million grant for flood mitigation

Villa Park trustees on Monday unanimously agreed to accept a $4 million grant from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency to expand the stormwater detention basin at Jackson Middle School. The Jackson Pond Improvement Project will help alleviate flooding in the area. It includes the installation of storm sewers, which would be tributary to the expanded detention basin. The project is estimated to cost $5,608,000. Money for Villa Park's share of the project costs would come from the village's stormwater fund. Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2022.
