Police: Palatine woman arrested after accosting teen
A 38-year-old Palatine woman was arrested on a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge Wednesday, after she accosted a teenager on a village bike path, police said.
Officers arrested Katie Powers, of the 400 block of North North Court, after responding to the 1000 block of East Sayles Drive at about 4 p.m. on a report of a suspicious person, police said.
According to police, a 17-year-old was traveling on the path and passed Powers, who raised her arms and yelled, "Get in the car!" The teen ran from the scene after telling another person about the encounter, police said.
Police said they determined there was no evidence of an attempted abduction and no vehicle in the vicinity of where the encounter occurred.
Powers was charged with one count of disorderly conduct and due to unknown medical conditions transported to a hospital for an evaluation, police said. She is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 19.
