Pioneer Day returning to Stacy's Tavern Museum in Glen Ellyn

Glen Ellyn's Stacy's Tavern Museum will take visitors back to early settler life during a “Pioneer Day” celebration Sunday.

The annual festival, formerly known as Tavern Day, will give a window into the 1840s with live farm animals, candle making, corn shelling, apple peeling, vegetable harvesting, pioneer games and other old-fashioned fun.

The event runs from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the historic museum campus at 800 N. Main St.

Native American dancers will perform at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Joseph Standing Bear Schranz, a member of the Minnesota Ojibwe Nation, will open the gathering with a blessing.

Artists will paint portraits in pioneer style and demonstrate the penmanship of the 19th century.

The museum is operated by the Glen Ellyn Historical Society.

Admission costs $8 for adults $8; $6 for Historical Society members; $4 for children ages 3-17; $3 for children of historical society members; and free for kids under 3.
