Batavia police investigate drug deal shooting

Batavia police are investigating a shooting that happened Sunday night at an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Lorlyn Circle.

Officers responded at 11:16 p.m. to a report of gunshots, according to a news release. When they arrived, they found an unattended vehicle with a bullet hole in the grass courtyard of the complex.

Occupants were found in a nearby neighborhood. They told police they had been involved in a drug sale, according to the news release.

They said they met with a Black man wearing white clothing. During the transaction, another person approached their vehicle and shot at it as they drove away. No one was injured.

They drove through the grassy area and hit a tree.

They described the shooter as a man wearing a blue surgical mask.

Batavia police are asking anyone with information to call the investigations division at (630) 454-2500.
