More catalytic converter thefts reported in Des Plaines

Des Plaines police this week reported the thefts of catalytic converters from beneath four vehicles this week.

The thefts occurred between Sunday and Tuesday on the 1300 block of Campbell Avenue, the 1700 block of White Street and the 1700 block of Elm Street, with two stolen from cars on Elm.

Someone reported seeing people standing near one of the victimized cars and then leaving in a dark-colored sedan.

Part of a car's exhaust system, catalytic converters are targeted by thieves because they contain valuable metals. Such thefts have been an ongoing problem in Des Plaines and other communities.
