Three man charged in fight involving gunfire Monday afternoon in Elgin

Three men have been charged following a fight in Elgin involving gunfire Monday afternoon, police said Wednesday.

About 4:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a disturbance on the 2000 block of Hayloft Lane.

No one was injured, according to police.

The men involved were identified as Averell K. Williams, 49, of the 2400 block of Hayloft Lane in Elgin; James DeLaRosa, 41, of the 1600 block of McKool Avenue in Streamwood; and Mario F. Barrientos-Rodriguez, 35, of the 2400 block of Leslie Lane in Hanover Park.

Williams was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm without a FOID card, reckless discharge and cannabis possession, police said.

DeLaRosa and Barrientos-Rodriguez were both charged with mob action, criminal trespassing and criminal damage to property, according to police.

All three men appeared in bond court Tuesday and have posted bail, police said.
