Prospect Heights Parks seeks input on rec center renovation

The Prospect Heights Park District will host a community open house from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, at the Gary Morava Recreation Center, 110 W. Camp McDonald Road.

Officials will provide updated information and collect input on the proposed renovation or replacement of the center.

In 2018, the district developed and approved its 10-year Comprehensive Master Plan, which included a goal to conduct a feasibility study to renovate or replace the center, originally built in 1976. In 2020, the district finalized the study to include a mix of programs and amenities and potential costs. Based on the study, the board is exploring the possibility of rebuilding a recreation center and potentially including the outdoor swimming pool.

The park district is offering free child care for children 2-12 years old at the center specifically for parents who want to attend. RSVP is not required. Anyone unable to attend can send comments or suggestions to cferraro@phparks.org or call Christina at (847) 394-2848.
