Aurora man charged with trying to murder two relatives

A 20-year-old Aurora man has been charged with attempted murder, accused of stabbing and cutting two of his relatives.

Saul Gonzalez Jr., of the 0-99 block of North Highland Avenue, is also charged with aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery and violation of a domestic violence bail bond.

The two victims - a 47-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman - were hospitalized with cuts and stab wounds to their upper bodies, according to Aurora police spokesman Paris Lewbel. Their current condition was not available.

Police were called around 6:45 p.m. Saturday to a residence in the 0-99 block of North Highland for a report of a man with a weapon.

Gonzalez is being held on $250,000 bail at the Kane County jail.

He was charged twice in 2019 with misdemeanor domestic battery at the same address. Those cases are pending. In both cases, he was ordered to stay away from the Highland Avenue home and not have contact with the victim.
