Man not hurt during attempted robbery in Elmhurst

Two masked thieves tried to rob a man at gunpoint while he was walking his dog Sunday evening in Elmhurst.

Officers responded about 9:45 p.m. Sunday to the 300 block of Cayuga Avenue, according to a news release Monday from the Elmhurst Police Department.

The victim noticed a light-colored or white SUV pass him several times on Cayuga. Later, two men exited the vehicle with a black handgun and approached the victim.

The men demanded money and patted the victim down. Nothing was taken, and the offenders fled west on Wilson from Cayuga. The victim was not injured.

Both suspects were described as black men wearing black cloth masks. One man was described as 18 to 20 years old standing 5 foot 8 inches and weighing 160 pounds. The other man was described as 30 years old standing 5 foot 10 and weighing 200 pounds.
