Barrington rail crossing to close for repairs

The Union Pacific Railroad crossing on Route 59, north of Main Street/County Line Road, in Barrington, is scheduled to be closed for repairs.

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced the work was expected to begin Monday and to be completed, weather permitting, by 9 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 1.

A detour will direct motorists to County Line Road/Main Street, Hart Road and Northwest Highway (U.S. 14).

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to detour signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
