Loan deadline approaching for DuPage tornado victims

Businesses, nonprofits, homeowners and renters affected by the tornado that swept through DuPage County this summer are encouraged to apply for physical damage disaster loans as soon as possible ahead of the Sept. 14 deadline.

The U.S. Small Business Administration issued a disaster declaration for DuPage and adjacent counties, allowing those affected by the June 20 storms to apply for low-interest, long-term loans to help with their recovery process.

Waiting to file an application could cause unnecessary delays in receiving disaster assistance, SBA Field Operations Center East Director Kem Fleming said in a statement.

Applications can be filed online at DisasterLoanAssistance.sba.gov/ela/s or downloaded at sba.gov/disaster and mailed to U.S. Small Business Administration, Processing and Disbursement Center, 14925 Kingsport Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76155.

The deadline to return economic injury applications is April 18, 2022.
