Puppy worth nearly $7,900 stolen from Lombard pet store
The owner of a Lombard pet store said a woman stole a puppy from a crib Friday afternoon.
The theft, which occurred around 3:45 p.m. at Furry Babies, 170 Yorktown Shopping Center, was captured on video.
The video shows a woman with a white outfit and an oversized black shoulder bag stopping to peer into the crib.
She then walks to another crib, walks back, lifts the dog out of the crib and, while no one is looking, stuffs it into the bag, hoists the bag onto her shoulder and leaves the store.
The stolen puppy is about 10 weeks old and is a French bulldog/Boston terrier mix valued at nearly $7,900.
"It's a big blow to our entire staff because we care for and play with these puppies every day, and to have someone just walk out with one has really shaken us all up," said store manager Kaylee Wallace,
Lombard police confirmed there is an investigation without revealing any details.
