New leadership role for COD chairman

College of DuPage board Chairman Maureen Dunne recently was elected vice president and president-elect to the Illinois Community College Trustees Association for 2021-2022.

Dunne began her term as vice president on July 1. Her term as ICCTA president begins in 2022.

In her new leadership role, Dunne will focus her efforts on helping communities across Illinois heal in a post-pandemic world.

"In times of economic downturn, government, communities and families look to community colleges as engines of recovery through workforce training and education," Dunne said in a statement. "The ICCTA will play an essential role in confronting some of our most critical challenges on the road ahead, and I look forward to helping meet the needs of the communities we serve."

A COD graduate, Dunne obtained her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Chicago, a master's from the London School of Economics and a doctorate in cognitive sciences from Oxford University, where she was a Rhodes Scholar.
