Palatine library pop-up sales to start Saturday

Pop-up sales of books about cooking and crafts, including sewing and quilting, take place 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Palatine Public Library.

The Friends of the Palatine Library event is in the meeting room hallway of the library, 700 N. North Court in Palatine.

Also, the third phase of the library's renovation kicks off July 6 with the closure of the second floor. Patrons are encouraged to stock up on materials or place holds; staff members and volunteers will retrieve adult fiction and nonfiction titles and any other items from the second floor.

The adult services desk will be in the lobby for assistance, and computers will be available on the first floor.

The second-floor renovation includes: building a quiet reading room that overlooks the pond; finishing the addition of more study rooms; creating a new adult services desk; and installing new carpeting and lighting.
