Aurora teen pleads guilty to February gas station shooting

An Aurora juvenile pleaded guilty Thursday to charges from a gas station shooting that occurred in February, according to the DuPage County state's attorney's office.

The 17-year-old boy pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm and one count of possession of a firearm by a gang member, the state's attorney's office said in a news release. Judge Anthony Coco sentenced the teen to juvenile detention for an undetermined amount of time not to exceed his 21st birthday.

Aurora police responded to reports of shots fired at the Thornton's gas station at 2800 Ogden Ave. about 3:45 p.m. Feb. 21. The juvenile exited a vehicle outside the station store, fired multiple times at a vehicle near a gas pump, returned to his vehicle and continued to shoot at the other vehicle as he drove away. In total, the juvenile fired 16 shots.

The teen was arrested May 6 in Kane County on unrelated charges.
