Butterfly release Saturday at NCH for families who have lost a baby

Northwest Community Healthcare is hosting its annual Butterfly Release at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, on the front lawn of the hospital, 800 W. Central Road, Arlington Heights.

The event to help parents and families coping with the loss of a baby is hosted by the Renew Through Sharing Program and has been held for well over a decade, according to Jill Kottmeier, Perinatal Palliative Care Coordinator for Women's and Children's Services at NCH.

Parents who have experienced the loss of a baby through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or stillbirth can gather in person or virtually to remember the lost babies. Approximately 40 painted lady butterflies will be released in the Renew Through Sharing Garden outside of the North Pavilion of the hospital campus. The event will stream live at facebook.com/NCHOnline.
