Scooter driver severely injured in Lake Zurich crash

A man who was thrown from his motorized scooter in a crash with a van Thursday in Lake Zurich was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Lake Zurich police said officers responded at 5:26 p.m. to the area of Buesching Road and Route 22.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2009 Honda van was headed north on the 0-100 block of Buesching Road when it turned left into a southbound 2017 Wolf Motor Scooter at the intersection of a private drive.

The victim, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the scooter. Lake Zurich fire personnel took him to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

The driver of the Honda was not injured.

Lake Zurich police and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team are investigating. No citations or charges have been filed.
