Three injured in Gurnee rollover crash

Three people suffered minor injuries when the vehicle they were in rolled over after being struck from behind Tuesday afternoon in Gurnee.

Gurnee police officials said three people inside a 2004 Subaru were taken to the hospital following the crash that was reported about 3 p.m. near the intersection of Washington Street and Cemetery Road.

Police said the driver of a 2008 Mazda rear-ended the Subaru, causing the Subaru to veer off the road and roll over.

The 18-year-old male driver of the Subaru and two passengers, a 22-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, all suffered nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.

The 27-year-old man driving the Mazda and two children in the back, who were properly secured in child safety seats, were uninjured.

Investigators said both vehicles were westbound on Washington Street when the Mazda ran into the Subaru.

Washington Street was closed for roughly three hours.

The crash remains under investigation. No citations were reported by Gurnee police.
