Palatine library summer reading program to start June 1

Residents of the Palatine Public Library District can sign up for this year's summer reading program, "Reading Colors Your World," from June 1 to Aug. 15.

Library cardholders can visit palatinelibrary.org/coloryourworld to register and get instructions to download the Beanstack Tracker app and log their books online. Reading requirements for the summer program are: from birth to grade 2, read 30 books; grades 3 to 6, read 10 books; grades 7 to 12, read five books; and adults, read five books.

After registering, patrons can get a scratch-off card for a chance to win a prize, along with coupons and discounts for local businesses.

Those can be obtained at the main library, 700 N. North Court in Palatine, or its branches, 3600 Lexington Drive in Hoffman Estates and 1585 Rand Road in Palatine.

After finishing the "Reading Colors Your World" program, participants will receive a grand prize T-shirt donated by Friends of Palatine Library and Warehouse Direct.
