Hoffman Estates, county partnering on bicycle safety project

The village of Hoffman Estates and the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways are partnering to begin design engineering for the Beverly Road bicycle tollway crossing improvement project. It includes an off-street path from Prairie Stone Parkway to Beacon Point Drive and improvements to the bridge over the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway.

The project provides a safe passage for pedestrians and bicyclists, which is a primary goal of the village's comprehensive bike plan. The partnership, which was approved by the Cook County Board this week, provides village reimbursement for up to $100,000 for the county's share of the costs for the project, the transportation department said in a news release.
