How you can apply for an open seat on the Des Plaines park board
Two months after veteran Des Plaines Park District Commissioner Bill Yates' death, the remaining members of the board are seeking applicants to succeed him.
Yates, 69, died March 5. He had been on the park board since 1999.
The eventual appointee's term will expire in May 2023. The appointee can run for office in the consolidated local election that spring or step down.
Qualifications and application forms will be available starting Wednesday at the park district headquarters and online at dpparks.org/park-board-vacancy.
Application forms must be submitted by 5 p.m. June 4. They can be mailed to delivered to: Executive Director Don Miletic, Des Plaines Park District, 2222 Birch St., Des Plaines, IL, 60018.
