A Naperville North High School senior was among 25 students nationwide to be awarded $40,000 through the College Board Opportunity Scholarships program.

Vivek Ily and the other Complete Your Journey scholarship recipients learned of their winnings during a live virtual segment of ABC's Good Morning America on March 31, according to a news release from Naperville Unit District 203. The class of 2021 students were entered into a drawing after completing six steps in the college planning process.

Ily plans to attend the University of Illinois at Chicago in the fall, officials said. During his time at Naperville North, he has been involved in the tennis team, the math team, the Varsity Science Olympiad, the Scholastic Bowl, the Science Bowl and National Honors Society.

In addition to community service opportunities, Ily participates in the DuPage County Health Department's Reality Illinois teen advisory panel and the Northwestern Medicine Discovery Program.
