Naperville kicks off 7-phase maintenance project on downtown parking facility

Maintenance work begins Thursday on the central parking deck in downtown Naperville, kicking off a seven-phase project that allows portions of the facility to remain open during construction.

Tinley Park contractor J.Gill and Company is expected to repair the concrete and replace the sealant on all three levels of the parking garage at 75 E. Chicago Ave., according to a Naperville news release. The work, which also includes repainting the facility and coating the roof level, is intended to prevent water from leaking through to lower decks and deteriorating the structure.

Construction is expected to last until Sept. 3, pending weather or other unforeseen circumstances, officials said. A portion of each level will be inaccessible during the first three phases. The top level will close completely during the fourth phase, slated to start in late June, and one level will be closed at a time during the final three phases.
