The two men killed in a high-speed crash late Saturday in Warren Township have been identified as Waukegan and Hainesville residents.

Silvano Aldana-Macias, 23, of Waukegan and Gerardo Cruz, 23, of Hainesville died in the crash, the Lake County coroner's office said Monday.

Aldana-Macias was driving at a high speed in an 2009 Audi TTS headed west on Stearns Road when he lost control of the vehicle and it hit a guardrail on the north side of the road, authorities said.

Cruz, a passenger in the Audi, was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from the vehicle.

Autopsies revealed both men died of blunt trauma, Coroner Jennifer Banek said in a news release. Toxicology results are pending.

The Lake County sheriff's office Technical Crash Investigations Unit continues to investigate the crash.
