Gara named deputy police chief in Mundelein

A veteran Mundelein police officer has been named the department's deputy chief.

Patrick Gara, 49, was publicly introduced as the new deputy chief during Monday night's village board meeting. With his wife by his side, Gara recited his oath of office.

Gara, of McHenry, has worked with the department since 1997. His career includes time with Lake County's Metropolitan Enforcement Group and service as a patrol sergeant and commander in Mundelein. Gara's latest promotion was effective Feb. 1, Chief John Monahan said.
