Vernon Township launches vaccine outreach program for seniors

A phone outreach program to educate seniors on how to obtain the COVID-19 vaccine was launched Thursday in Vernon Township.

Operated by township board members, staff and volunteers, the effort will inform seniors why and how to get the vaccine, and help them with transportation issues getting to a vaccination site.

Also, two online informational webinars on the vaccine will be held next week, according to Township Supervisor Jonathan Altenberg.

After seniors, the program will work to assist other township residents. The township provides services to residents in all or portions of Buffalo Grove, Indian Creek, Lincolnshire, Long Grove, Mettawa, Mundelein, Riverwoods, Vernon Hills, Lake Forest and unincorporated areas.
