Try to 'Stump the Curators' during Coffee Talk program

The Des Plaines History Center is happy to announce that Museum Director Philip Mohr, Curator of Collections Siobhan Heraty and Interpretive Curator Emma Marston will be having a "Stump the Curator" Zoom session, at 7 p.m. Thursday Feb. 18.

The three professional curators have more than 25 years combined experience working at museums, with a total of four bachelor's degrees and four master's degrees between them. The three employees will be taking on questions live about local and other history.

Des Plaines' history will take precedence over other history. Mohr, Heraty and Marston will see how many questions they can answer in one hour. The hosts of the Coffee Talk will also be demonstrating the museum database software, as well as the recently updated Des Plaines Memory website.

Details will be posted on desplaineshistory.org and also dppl.org.

Attendees will be able to enjoy this digital program from the safety and comfort of their own homes, and can join the event by following a Zoom link that will be available on the History Center's website, desplaineshistory.org, or can dial into the presentation via telephone.

All members of the public are welcome to attend "Stump the Curator."

The History Center's Coffee Talks are an adult program meant to invite public participation and discussion on a broad range of historical topics. This program is sponsored by Village Bank & Trust.

The next Coffee Talk, "Posters and Propaganda," will be at 7 p.m. March 25.

The Des Plaines History Center is at 781 Pearson St., in Des Plaines. For information, contact (847) 391-5399 or desplaineshistory.org.
