COVID-19 testing at ECC next week

An Illinois Department of Public Health mobile unit will provide free COVID-19 tests next week at Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

Testing will be done Monday, Feb. 8, through Friday, Feb. 12, and Sunday, Feb. 14, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or while supplies last. Another event is scheduled for Saturday, causing the tests to be postponed for that date only.

A phone number and name are required in order to receive testing results. Photo ID is not required.

Testing will be done using a nasal swab. The virus can take up to 14 days to be detectable by a test, so it is important to continue the quarantine period through 14 days while monitoring for symptoms. Test results are expected in 4 to 7 calendar days.

For COVID-19 information and updates, visit KaneHealth.com or call the health department at (630) 208-3801.
