Chicago man charged in armed robbery of Buffalo Grove AT&T store
A Chicago man faces robbery and weapons charges after his arrest in connection with an armed holdup Monday at AT&T store in Buffalo Grove.
Authorities said Buffalo Grove police were called to the store at 55 N. McHenry Road at about 5:40 p.m. Monday for a reported armed robbery. Officers arrived to find a store employee restrained with plastic ties in the restroom, but otherwise uninjured.
The store's video surveillance system showed the robber entering the store with what appeared to be a handgun and leaving with an estimated $57,000 in merchandise, police said.
According to police, diligent investigative efforts led to Chicago police locating a suspect near the 400 block of 103rd Street in Chicago. The man, identified as 37-year-old Marcus Scott of Chicago, was found with a handgun and charged with unlawful use of weapon by a felon, police said.
Continued investigation led to the recovery of all the merchandise stolen from the AT&T store, according to police.
The Lake County State's Attorney's Office later approved a felony warrant charging Scott with armed robbery
and aggravated unlawful restraint. He will be held in the Lake County jail on $500,000 bail after Buffalo Grove police serve the warrant when Scott is released from Chicago police custody, officials said.
