Creekside Health Center, philanthropist distribute 500 meals to families in need
Cold, blustery winds couldn't blow away the good spirits of volunteers for Creekside Health Center as they merrily handed out boxes of food Wednesday.
As a steady stream of cars entered St. Mary Parish parking lot in Buffalo Grove, Dr. Henry Dominicis met the vehicles and directed them to the pick-up site.
Fifteen-year-old Becca Flint of Crystal Lake was one of the many volunteers who carried a large boxes of food to waiting cars.
"It's great to help the community, especially this year with everything that we have been through," Becca said.
Nearly 500 families in need who live in or near Buffalo Grove, Wheeling, Arlington Heights, Prospect Heights and Palatine received boxed meals, thanks to a local suburban donor who wanted to remain anonymous.
The families are clients of Creekside Health Center in Wheeling, a clinic affiliated with Greater Elgin Family Care Center.
The holiday meals served four to six people and consisted of short ribs, salad, vegetables, mashed potatoes and a dessert. They were purchased from The Foxtail Restaurant and Cadence Kitchen of Downers Grove.
