Hanover Park's Santa arrives in style

Santa ditched his sleigh during Hanover Park's virtual tree lighting and Santa procession Friday for a sweeter ride in a 1931 Studebaker President convertible coupe.

The parade also included a Hanover Park Fire Department utility truck and ladder truck. It would its way through the village's neighborhoods to the delight of kids yelling "Santa Santa." Unfortunately, kids could not tell Santa their Christmas wish up close like usual due to social distancing that was practiced during the event.

The procession was followed by a virtual "Flip the Switch" tree lighting ceremony hosted by Hanover Park Village President Rodney Craig. The tree was decorated by community organizations and the snowflake lights along Barrington Road and Lake Street were turned on for people to enjoy.

Eira Corral Sepulveda, village clerk, said "a magical day is planned for all boys and girls and families of Hanover Park."
