District 62 tax levy vote set for Dec. 14

The Des Plaines Elementary District 62 school board is planning to adopt a 2020 tax levy of $78,443,000. This represents a 6.95% increase over the previous year, in line with the increases approved in each of the two prior years. Taxpayers on existing properties will see an increase of approximately 2.3%, which is based on the Consumer Price Index. The 6.95% increase is intended to capture tax dollars from new construction. A public hearing will be held on Dec. 14 prior to the board voting on the final levy.
