Elk Grove Village police reaccredited

The Elk Grove Village Police Department has received reaccreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies - the department's ninth such certification since 1993.

Elk Grove police are among 5% of law enforcement agencies that have received the accreditation for meeting 460 professional standards. During a virtual hearing Nov. 12, the department's command staff received the Advanced Law Enforcement Accreditation award, following a recent site visit by evaluators and assessment of department policies and practices.

"We're proud to be reaccredited because it demonstrates our commitment to constant improvement in the way we keep our community and our officers safe," Police Chief Chuck Walsh said in a news release. "When we earn accreditation, our community is the beneficiary because it means that we are delivering critical public safety services using modern, best practices."
