Chicago man charged in fatal hit-and-run crash in Lombard

A Chicago man accused of leaving the scene of a fatal crash Sunday in Lombard was ordered held in the DuPage County jail Wednesday on $250,000 bail.

Norris Watt, 25, of the 4900 block of West Polk Street, is charged with one count of leaving the scene of a fatal accident and one count of aggravated DUI.

Authorities said Lombard police called to the intersection of Roosevelt Road and Stewart Street at 11:04 p.m. Sunday found the victim, 41-year-old Troy Young, lying on his back after being struck by a car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe Watt was driving west on Roosevelt at more than 80 mph when he struck Young, who was riding a bike, according to DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin. He had a combination of alcohol, ecstasy, amphetamine and cannabis in his system at the time of the crash, prosecutors said.

Watt was taken into custody about 20 minutes later by Oak Brook police, who stopped him for driving erratically, authorities said.

Watt is scheduled for arraignment Dec. 4 in front of Judge George Bakalis.
