Arlington Heights library closes starting Friday

The Arlington Heights Memorial Library will temporarily close its doors starting Friday, while keeping its drive-up window open and making other services available online.

The library on Monday already removed study tables and seating, and limited the time for customer visits from 2½ hours to 1 hour. But following the latest COVID-19 mitigation measures announced Tuesday by Gov. J.B. Pritzker, the library board Tuesday night voted unanimously to close the building through Tuesday, Dec. 8. The board will meet again Dec. 7, when trustees could decide whether to extend the closure.

Customers can request and place holds on materials at ahml.info, and pick them up at the parking garage drive-up window or two dozen bookmobile locations throughout town.

Outdoor book returns remain open, virtual programming continues, and staff members are available to answer questions at questions@ahml.info or (847) 392-0100.
