Morrison confident vote margin over Trevor will be enough

In a closely watched Northwest suburban-based state House race, five-term incumbent Republican state Rep. Tom Morrison of Palatine continues to hold a big lead over Democratic challenger Maggie Trevor, of Rolling Meadows, according to unofficial results.

With all but one precinct reporting, Morrison led Trevor by a 21,820 to 16,344 margin. The race was a rematch of two years ago, when Morrison beat Trevor by a mere 37 votes.

Morrison took to social media just after midnight, saying he's confident given the current margin, though some votes are still outstanding.

Trevor said Wednesday she's awaiting the results of a large number of uncounted mail ballots at the Cook County Clerk's office, mail ballots yet to arrive, and provisional ballots that haven't yet been examined. As such, she said she remains hopeful.

"As in 2018, we anticipate that once these ballots are included in the totals we will be in a much tighter race than current returns indicate," Trevor wrote on Facebook. "We are waiting on these results."

The district includes all or portions of Arlington Heights, Barrington, Hoffman Estates, Inverness, Palatine, Rolling Meadows and South Barrington.
