Democrat Pierog takes lead in Kane County Board of Commissioners race

In the race for Chairman of the Kane County Board of Commissioners, Batavia Democrat has a small lead over Elgin Republican Republican David Rickert

Pierog, a former member of the St. Charles Unit District 303 school board, has 112,236 votes and Rickert, the longtime Kane County treasurer, has 110,661 votes votes with 100% precincts reporting votes cast on Election Day.

Those unofficial tallies also include early votes and many mail-in ballots.

Those vote tallies do not include mail-in ballots that have yet to arrive.

According to the Illinois State Board of Elections, 92,088 ballots were mailed to Kane County voters who requested them and 10,917 of those ballots have not been returned. Ballots postmarked by Tuesday will be counted if they arrive by Nov. 17.

All results are unofficial.
