Bos posts early lead against incumbent Edly-Allen

Early results in the race for the Illinois House of Representatives seat in the 51st District show Republican challenger Chris Bos leading Democratic incumbent Mary Edly-Allen by more than 4,000 votes.

Early, unofficial results show Bos with 7,507 votes to Edly-Allen's 3,260.

Those tallies do not include mail-in ballots that have yet to arrive. Ballots postmarked by Tuesday will be counted if they arrive by Nov. 17.

Edly-Allen, of Libertyville, supports the proposed graduated income tax plan, arguing it will help raise revenue for the state to pay debt and bills.

Bos, of Lake Zurich, said the graduated income tax is a power grab by legislators and supports a constitutional amendment to solve the state's pension funding crisis.

The district includes all or portions of the Barrington area, Lake Zurich, Long Grove, Libertyville and Mundelein.
