Let God lead you through life changes

"Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up."

- Exodus 3:2 (NIV)

Today, as the sunlight glistens off my neighbor's tree with its orange-colored leaves, I'm enjoying autumn.

I couldn't end the month of October without mentioning what a beautiful array of fall colors God has given us this year. In the midst of trials and hardship, it's as if God is giving us a pep-talk by making the fall colors a little stronger in radiant beauty and endurance.

Have you looked out your window, gone out your back door, or gone for a ride to take in the magnificent beauty offered by our Creator? As I take in the sights, I find it hard to choose which color I like best.

Have you thought about your favorite? I really enjoy the fiery red bushes. It's not only that burgundy-red is my favorite color, but it reminds me of the Bible story of Moses and the burning bush.

You may know the story. Moses sensed there was more to life than what he was experiencing. After a few enlightening events, he wandered away from the prestige of living as a prince in the palace and wound up in the wilderness.

One day while doing daily tasks he noticed a bush that appeared to be on fire, but never burn out. His curiosity led him to get a closer look. It was there he discovered God's eternal love and burning desire to deliver hurting people from their afflictions.

But Moses felt a bit timid, because God wanted to use him for the task. Moses didn't feel worthy of that assignment. However, God assured him that He would guide and direct him.

It's not that God can't miraculously bring about a change. But, what Moses didn't understand is God involves us in His purposes. That's how He fulfills our purpose and destiny.

I recently found myself being led by God to take on a new task. At first for a variety of reasons, my age, chronic health issues, and projects of my own, I was unsure about it. But after much prayer, I felt the benefits outweighed my excuses.

Have you thought God could be guiding you to something you feel unequipped to do? It may not involve a job. It might be to become a spouse, a parent, a caretaker, go to school, sing in the choir or any variety of things. It's not unusual to feel unequipped when God directs you to make some sort of life change. I believe it's because He wants us to lean on Him and allow Him to be our guide.

If you sense you're meant to do something new or make a change, then prayerfully consider taking that step. On my life journey, I learned many things and lived a fulfilled life from following my personal burning bush times with God.

Whenever I catch a glimpse of the splendor of its brilliant red leaves, I can't help but wonder if God is giving us a Bible lesson through the creation of this fiery-red bush. Seeing one can be used as a reminder to spark our curiosity to come closer to God and listen to what He may be directing us to do.
