Suburban Democratic Party leaders are accepting applications from people interested in filling the vacant 30th state Senate District seat. State Sen. Terry Link of Indian Creek resigned Sept. 12, and the seat must be filled within 30 days of that date. Lake County Democratic Chair Lauren Beth Gash and Wheeling Township Democratic committee representative Mark Walker will appoint Link's successor, and that person will serve until the 2022 election. Applicants should email a short statement as well as a resume or biography to statesenateappointment@gmail.com. Applicants must be Democrats, be at least 18 years old and have lived in the 30th District for at least two years.
