Police: Elgin man faces charges after striking squad cars

An Elgin man faces four counts of aggravated DUI, a Class 4 felony, after he struck multiple East Dundee police vehicles around 2 a.m. Sept. 19. near Route 25 and Albert Drive, according to a news release from the Kane County state's attorney's office. Neither of the two officers involved were injured.

The two officers had been dispatched to investigate a DUI on Route 25 when 30-year-old Robert C. Peoples struck the two police vehicles, both of which had their lights operating at the time of the incident, the release said. Both of the vehicles were "heavily damaged" during the incident.

Peoples remains in custody at the Kane County jail with his bail set at $30,000.
