Gail Borden Library seeks to fill board vacancy

Gail Borden Public Library District board members hope to use a virtual meeting about serving on the board to fill a vacant seat.

Board President Jean Bednar will speak via Zoom Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. about the board process and the value of serving in a program titled "How to Run for Library Board of Trustees."

Due to the resignation of Sue Moylan in early August, the library board is seeking to appoint a new trustee who will fill out her current term and run in the spring 2021 election. To qualify, applicants must be registered to vote and reside within the library district.

The program, offered in partnership with Aurora Public Library, can be accessed via Zoom by registering at this link: https://aurorapubliclibrary-org.zoom.us/meeting/register/

"When we received the results of our community survey last year, we were gratified to see how much people value the library," Bednar said. "The community and this staff make governing this library district extremely worthwhile, so we encourage people to think about this opportunity."

Carole Medal, the district's executive director, said the library board has guided the district to add significant new services for residents, including two branches and a bookmobile in recent years.

"I believe potential candidates can be assured that service on this board is quality time well spent," Medal said.
