Drive-through Tootsie Roll Drive in Palatine

The Knights of Columbus in Palatine will hold their 2020 Tootsie Roll Drive, but for the first time in decades they will not solicit on street corners and outside stores due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

People can donate online at palatinetootsierolldrive.com.

Or they can donate at no-contact drive-through donation sites from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, in the parking lots of Pleasant Hill Elementary School, 434 W. Illinois Avenue; Plum Grove Junior High, 2600 Plum Grove Road in Rolling Meadows; St. Theresa Parish, 455 N. Benton Street in Palatine; Walter R. Sundling Junior High, 1100 N. Smith Street in Palatine; and Winston Campus Elementary School, 900 E. Palatine Road in Palatine.

From a safe social distance, volunteers wearing personal protective equipment will accept donations and thank donors by handing them a Tootsie Roll using extension pole devices.

Checks can be made out to "Holy Ghost Council #4977." Credit cards are not accepted at drive-in donation sites.

The drive benefits children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
