Thanopoulos steps down from Arlington Heights library board
Arlington Heights Memorial Library Board Trustee Marianthi Thanopoulos has stepped down after nearly four years on the panel.
Her colleagues approved a resolution Aug. 18 recognizing her tenure, which has included helping acquire and plan for a proposed makerspace, appointing a new executive director, and developing a strategic plan.
Thanopoulos told the board she is stepping down due to other time commitments. She was appointed to fill a vacancy in September 2016, and was elected the next spring to a full six-year term.
The board could appoint someone to fill the vacancy until the next election in April, or choose not to fill the vacancy.
Thanopoulos has been business development coordinator for the village of Wheeling since 2017 and was previously Mount Prospect's public information officer and community engagement liaison.
