No injuries reported in Naperville apartment fire

No one was injured early Monday in a fire at an apartment complex in Naperville.

Naperville firefighters were dispatched to the fire at 12:24 a.m. for a report of smoke in the hallway of a shared apartment complex on the 1400 block of Fairway Drive on the city's far northwest side.

When firefighters arrived, they reported smoke visible in the building and discovered a small fire in the third floor common hallway.

The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes and crews worked another 30 minutes to ensure the fire hadn't spread to other parts of the building.

Fire officials said the fire was started accidentally from improperly discarded cooking materials.

City engineers determined all units in the complex to be habitable and residents were allowed to return to their homes. There is no estimate on damage.
