Naperville election petitions available in mid-August

Nominating petitions for the 2021 Naperville municipal election will be available beginning Monday, Aug. 17, in the city clerk's office at the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St. Petitions may be circulated for signatures beginning Aug. 25.

Up for election in 2021 are four city council seats. To qualify as a candidate, you must be a registered voter of the city and have lived within the corporate limits for at least a year. Petitions for nomination must be filed with the clerk's office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, through Monday, Nov. 23, excluding weekend days.

A primary will be held on Feb. 23, 2021, if more than four candidates file for any one office, or if there are more than 16 candidates for council. The general election will be April 6.
