Hoffman Estates man gets 7 years for sexual assaulting woman he met on social media

A Hoffman Estates man was sentenced to seven years in prison and ordered to register as a sex offender Wednesday after he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a woman he met through social media last year.

Ludie Iverson, 28, pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual assault. Iverson, who received credit for 450 days in custody, must serve at least 85% of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.

Prosecutors say that on May 11, 2019, the victim accepted an invitation to hang out with a man named "Stan Iverson." The woman met the defendant at a liquor store then walked to his home on the 600 block of Mohave Street, prosecutors said. There, Iverson began kissing the woman who told him to stop. He subsequently placed his hands on her neck "causing notable bruising" and sexually assaulted her, said Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Jennifer Walsh.

The woman escaped and called police, Walsh said.
