Fire damages Algonquin house being renovated

An Algonquin house being renovated was damaged in a fire late Wednesday.

Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District officials said the fire on the 900 block of Applewood Lane was reported just before 10:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters reported seeing fire from the rear exterior of the two-story, single-family house. Neighbors alerted firefighters that the house was undergoing a renovation and was unoccupied.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control by 10:42 p.m., officials said. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and officials did not have a damage estimate.

The fire district was assisted by Algonquin police, and firefighters from Cary, Huntley, Crystal Lake and Fox River Grove.
