Long Grove student receives national scholarship award

Emily Kang of Long Grove over the weekend received a scholastic award during the final night of competition at the 63rd Distinguished Young Women National Finals.

The $1,000 cash scholarship was presented to five of the 50 state representatives who received the highest scores based on their high school academic record and standardized testing results. Typically held in Mobile, Alabama. the three-day competition that ended Saturday was held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kang is a graduate of Stevenson High School and will attend Princeton University in the fall.
